Christmas 2009

Chris and I have been called as the Ward Activity Leaders.  So we were in charge of the Ward Christmas party.  Let’s just say – we were lucky to be able to sit down and eat and we are glad that it is behind us.  There is a great man in the ward that plays Santa.  This is the first year that Ty has been willing to sit on Santa’s lap.  Fortunately we got both Ty and Kylan together, however, Kylan was past bedtime, so he was not very happy at the time.

Chris was able to get off work early, so we drove to Utah on Monday December 21st.  We arrived at my mom’s house at 1:30 AM.  Kylan insisted on sleeping between us, so it was not the most pleasant night, but at least we had beat the storm. 

We spent Christmas Eve at Grandma Bastian’s.  Kylan enjoyed coloring and playing with Sabrina’s twins. 

Ty spent most of his time running through the house, expending energy.

Ty sat on Santa’s lap a second time, when Santa stopped by with the brown bag of oranges, peanuts and candy.  We attempted Kylan on his own – Chris had to bribe him with food to get him to stay on. 

We drove back to Grandma Jensen’s to sleep as Kylan and Ty had both adjusted and were sleeping through the night and even sleeping in till about 8 or 9 most mornings. 

Unfortunately, Rio and Van completely understand Christmas morning and were up at 5 AM to open their presents.  However, the boys continued to sleep until about 8:30.  Then Rio and Van excitedly showed Ty and Kylan there new presents.  Then we went upstairs and let Ty and Kylan open a few gifts before heading up to Idaho.

 

 

Up in Idaho, we enjoyed the traditional dutch oven breakfast and Ty and Kylan found treasures in Christmas stockings and Ty excitedly opened more presents. 

He got the 3 things he asked for.  Grandma Jensen gave Ty a flashlight and Grandma and Papa Clark gave Ty 2 trains – a Lights and Sounds Gordon and Stanley.   Ty had to open and play with his trains right away.

Kylan enjoyed a new dump truck.

 

The boys enjoyed playing with their news toys, wandering around the house and playing with Grandma and Papa. 

That night, back at Grandma Jensen’s house.  Ty attempted to make his own fresh squeezed orange juice.

 

When his hands weren’t doing the job to his liking, he decided to attempt juicing it with his teeth. 

 

For my Birthday, we took the boys and Rio and Van to Old Main Hill for sledding.  It had not snowed in about a week and the hill was pretty hard and icy, however, we enjoyed sledding for about an hour.  We had the left side of the hill to ourselves until we left.

Van introduced Ty to body sledding.  Ty was content to slide down the hill on his belly or the sled. 

Dad and Kylan – Kylan enjoyed a handful of turns on the sled.  But was more content watching the others play and sled.

That night, after the boys were in bed, we went to see Sherlock Holmes. 

We went to Park City to shop at the outlets and then took the boys to see the lights on Temple Square.  Ty enjoyed viewing seeing the large statue of Jesus.
