Friday we all went up Logan canyon. I was planning to just do the river walk trail, but when I asked Ty what he wanted to do, he said he wanted to hike UP the mountain. So we decided to try the Wind Caves trail. We were off to a good start. Kylan was quite independent and wanted to walk all by himself.
This lasted about 20-30 minutes. Then he needed to be held. We have been considering purchasing a child backpack, but had not found one yet – it really would have been handy on this hike.
Here is Ty taking a short break in the shade while he waited for the rest of us to catch up.
Here is Kylan doing is last stretch on his own – this is about half way up the trail.
Kylan and Chris with the Wind caves behind them. Unfortunately, once we got to the top of the switch backs, Kylan had fallen asleep on Chris’s shoulder. So Ty and I continued to the wind caves and Chris began the decent down the trail with Kylan who was apparently ready for his nap.
Ty had a brief breakdown after Chris left with Kylan, but I let him know that we were only a few minutes away from the cave. So he decided to continue on. He really did a great job for his first hike up a mountain.
Ty enjoyed climbing around the cave and is always ready to smile for the camera.
It was difficult to get the lighting right for a picture with the 2 of us in the cave.
Once we finished our pictures, Ty announced it was time to head back down. Below is the view of the caves as we began our hike back down.
Here is Ty at the trailhead very proud to have made the 4 mile hike.
The Logan Fireworks were scheduled that night, so after a short visit up to ID, we made our way to Lydia's house which is just below USU Stadium - a perfect view of the fireworks but not in the middle of the crowd. Kylan was not quite sure about the fireworks at first, but soon settled down and enjoyed them and then put his head down and fell asleep as soon as they were over. We relaxed and waiting for the traffic to diminish before driving back to Grandma Jensen's. Lydia kept Ty entertained around the yard until we left.
We were unsure of our plans for Saturday - we considered going to IKEA to shop, but ended up just checking some of the sales in Logan. Kylan went down for a nap early, so I went up Logan canyon for a long walk on the river walk trail. Since it was just me, I made it all the way up the trail and back. Then we headed up to ID for the rest of the day to visit. Grandma had bought new Thomas and Percy trains and Kylan was excited to return to play with them. He has become quite obsessed with trains. He either wants to play with the trains or watch Thomas the Train episodes. Ty enjoyed picking sweet peas and strawberries from the garden and playing with the hose outside. After dinner, Ty decided to sleep over, while we headed back to Logan with Kylan.
Sunday, July 4th, we attending Megan's sacrament meeting in Hyrum for the blessing of her 3rd son, Tayson. Grandpa Clark brought Ty down in the truck - Ty was so excited to finally have a ride in Grandpa's truck. When we arrived he was sitting in the passenger side grinning from ear to ear. After saying goodbye to Grandpa, we went to the luncheon that was put together for after the baby blessing and Ty enjoyed playing with his cousins.
All too soon, the weekend was over. We left in the morning on Monday the 5th to return to Cheyenne.
