My brother Jeremy who currently lives in Alaska with his family was training outside Columbia, SC this past week and finished early. So he decided to drive up to visit with us today. I told Ty that his uncle Jeremy would be coming for a visit today. He thought this was great news and was excited for his visit. He asked how long Jeremy would be staying with us. I told him he could only stay for the day. “But why?” was his response. I explained that was all the time he had and that he then had to return to his family in Alaska.
As we walked to school this morning, Ty saw a plane in the sky and commented, “Maybe that is uncle Jeremy’s plane.” I reminded him that Jeremy would be driving up from SC.
Jeremy arrived right in time to go pick up Ty from school with me. Ty was excited to see me and then saw Jeremy and exclaimed, “Uncle!” Ty made sure to always say “uncle Jeremy” when he spoke to him. Ty was quite the host, wanting to show Jeremy our house and was especially excited to show off his backyard and invited Jeremy to join him in exploring the backyard and playing with him on the playset.
We picked up Kylan from school and headed to Cosmic Cantina in Durham as that is what Ty decided on for dinner. Kylan quickly warmed up to Jeremy and requested to hold Jeremy’s hand to walk to the up to Cosmic. Kylan also enjoyed eating off Jeremy’s plate or helping himself.
Ty is showing off the coin that Jeremy brought for each of the boys from Shaw AFB. He was quite excited when Jeremy gave him his coin, and ask how much money it was worth, thinking he could add it to his piggy bank that he is saving to buy more trains. We had to explain that it was a special coin and was not money.
I was brave and let Ty attempt his first photo with a real camera. He did pretty well, however, Jeremy and I had to shuffle to the left to ensure we were in the frame when he took the picture:)
The boys were sad to see Jeremy go. Ty even became emotional at bedtime, saying he really missed Jeremy and wished he could have stayed for a longer visit.
Thanks for taking the time to come up and visit with us!
