I bought Ty a balance bike in the spring. In less than 2 days after practicing half the day in the back yard, Ty was able to ride his regular bike without his training wheels, but unfortunately, the chain would not stay on. When we arrived in Wyoming, I took his bike to a bike shop to get repaired, but was informed the bike could not be repaired. So for the past few months, Ty has continued to enjoy riding the balance bike that was really to small for him at this point, but he enjoyed the control he had developed with the bike.
Over the weekend, we found a bike that Ty liked at the Al's Labor Day sale. Here is Kylan checking out Ty's top choice bike.
He practiced a little on Grandma and Papa Clark's lawn before we left.
Today after school, he was excited to practice some more. After a few times down the sidewalk, Ty was riding back and forth on his own. He learned how to get a moving start since he can just barely touch the ground with his feet. He also worked on stopping gradually and being able to stay standing once he stopped.
Kylan had a hard time because he was unable to keep up with Ty on his balance bike. He wanted to take his turn on the Ty's bike, so at one point, Chris helped him "ride" the bike for a few minutes. After that, Kylan decided to ride the tricycle for a while, but still struggled when the pedals did not move as easily as he would have liked.
Next, Ty will work on turning while pedaling and staying on the bike:)
